This is the 34th year that the NYSSCPA - the nation’s first state society of accounting professionals with more than 26,000 members – has hosted its competition to raise awareness and exposure of the outstanding work being done in business journalism.

Financial journalists enter from around the country and winners have represented a number of news outlets including The New York Times, Dow Jones Radio, Bloomberg, ABC, CNBC, Fortune, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, CNN International among others. Our awards program speakers also have been the best of the best in business news, including two recent Pulitzer prize winning reporters.

Judging Criteria

A panel of members from the NYSSCPA will review and judge entries on:

Accuracy, quality, originality and thoroughness of reporting;

The clarity and ability to communicate a balanced understanding of the topic;

Examining a significant and complex subject with depth and context.

Eligibility Requirements

All original entries must have been published, broadcasted or posted online by a U.S.-based news organization during the contest year of January 1 through December 31, 2016. All entries must be completed - via the online submission process only (book entries have a mailing option)  - by March 15, 2017.

Persons, other than the author, may submit entries in accordance with the rules of the competition. Up to four (4) individuals may be named on a team entry, otherwise the entry must be made in the name of the staff of the publication, station or outlet.

Entries may be submitted to more than one category. An entry may consist of either a single news; feature story or series consisting of no more than four parts. No award will be given in a category if there are no entries deemed worthy of citation by the judges.

All entrants must create an account - creating a user name and password - by clicking the link to the category you wish to submit to. You will need that information to login, return to edit, add more entries and pay submission fee(s). Submit all entries before accessing the payment page to check out.
