A panel of CPA members from the NYSSCPA and financial journalists will review and judge entries based on three criteria:
- Accuracy, quality, originality and thoroughness of reporting;
- The clarity and ability to communicate a balanced understanding of the topic;
- Examining a significant and complex subject with depth and context.
The 2019 Excellence in Financial Journalism Awards will consist of 13 awards in 10 categories and recognize original work that has been printed, broadcasted or published online by international news organizations submitted in English during the contest year of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018.
All entries must be completed and received via the online submission portal only (book entries have a mailing option) - by March 15, 2018.
All entrants must create an account - creating a user name and password - by clicking the link to the category you wish to submit to. You will need that information to login, return to edit, add more entries and pay submission fee(s). Submit all entries before accessing the payment page to check out.
Please complete the appropriate award application and submit a link to the work online or upload your submission as a Word, PDF, jpg, mp3, wmv, mp4, FLV, mov, RM or web or video hosting URL. Print entries must be at least 500 words in length.
Persons, other than the author, may submit entries in accordance with the rules of the competition. Up to four (4) individuals may be named on a team entry, otherwise the entry must be made in the name of the staff of the publication, station or outlet.
Print, broadcast and online entries are eligible to be submitted to any category. Entries may be submitted to more than one category. An entry may consist of either a single news; feature story or series consisting of no more than five parts.
Digital webcasts, podcasts, television and radio entries must be at least 45 seconds. A script or transcript with lead-in is strongly recommended but not required. No award will be given in a category if there are no entries deemed worthy of citation by the judges.

Regular Submissions: A $75 fee is required for each entry submitted. Any additional separate entries by the same person or reporting team’s name will cost $50.
Next Gen Student Submissions: The Next Gen submissions for students will cost $30 for each initial submission. Any additional separate entries by the same person or reporting team’s name will cost $15.
